The Year 1 Reading Challenge

Complete as many of the following challenges as you can.

Each challenge should be recorded in your reading journal, which will come home with your children very soon, and shown to your teacher.

You can complete one or two challenges for each book that you read.

In assembly after the Easter break, awards will be presented:

5 challenges completed = Bronze Award
10 challenges completed = Silver Award
15 challenges completed = Gold Award

Challenges
1) Draw a picture of your favourite character and write about why they are your favourite.

2) Design a poster to advertise your book.

3) Find out about the author of your book.

4) Take 3 pictures of you reading your book in unusual places.

5) Design a new front cover for your book.

These are just a taster of the many challenges you can choose from. They will be sent home tomorrow. In the meantime, which book will you choose to read first?

Literacy Homework Friday 2nd December

December 2nd, 2016

Instructions

Over the last couple of weeks we have been learning to write instructions. We have been trying hard to remember to use time connectives (words that tell us WHEN to do something) and bossy verbs (words that tell us WHAT TO DO) in each instruction we write. Can you write an instruction in the comments?

For example: After that stir the mixture in a bowl.

laughing-face

Hi Year 1B,

This week I would like you to write down your favourite joke on the small piece of paper provided.

We are going to use them to create a funny class advent calendar that we can open throughout December!

I can’t wait to hear your funny jokes!

November 2nd, 2016

autumn-leaves

Hi Year 1B!

This week we have been learning about poems in Literacy. We have been thinking of lots of exciting words to help us write an Autumn poem.

For your homework this week I would like you to find your favourite poem on the internet or in a book. You can print it and bring it into school or type it into the comments below.

I’m looking forward to sharing your poems with the class!

Mrs Robinson 🙂
